STARRISE HACKATON: Join us in our Global Workshop Festival! 🚀
Are you ready to solve real-world challenges in the food and logistics sector? Join us on November 22-23 at the Global Workshop Festival for an immersive 36-hour hackathon experience! Whether you’re joining onsite in Riga or online through Discord, you’ll have the chance to collaborate, innovate, and compete for the grand prize of €500!
As part of the STARRISE Journey, the Global Workshop Festival Hackathon will comprehend an opportunity for individuals from the gaming, agri-food and logistics sectors to collaborate, exchange ideas and innovate. Delving into a 36-hour experience, the STARRISE Hackathon will be be an all-nighter event, where participants will be able to work on projects across various domains, including hardware, software (apps, platforms, serious games for training and awareness), and service-based solutions, allowing for diverse approaches to address challenges in the agri-food and logistic sectors.
The hackathon will provide a platform for participants to pitch new or existing ideas, develop prototypes, and receive valuable feedback from industry experts. The event will be hosted on-site in Riga, with a simultaneous online presence through Discord to ensure global participation. In teams, participants will work together to present their ideas, develop them into working prototypes, and at the end of the event, outstanding solutions will be rewarded.
Participation Requirements
🔥 With a focus on fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation, the Global Workshop Festival Hackathon is open to students, start-ups, and professionals, offering a chance to address critical issues in food and logistics while bringing the excitement and engagement of mixed creativity.
The participation is free of charge, but you have to registered using this link, until the 20th of November.. Participants will be invited to provide contact details, and to submit a project idea, or join a pre-defined existing project provided at the event.
After the registration, you will receive details regarding accesses to the discord platform.
Roles and Responsibilities
💡 Each participant will have a assigned role based on their involvement in the hackathon. The roles come with specific permissions to ensure the server remains organized and effective for communication:
- Participants will have access to the General Channel, aimed at discussing general topics, asking questions and engaging with other in the community; and Project Group Channel, where participants, jointly with their team members, will collaborate, share files and coordinate the idea development.
- Hosts and Co-Hosts will be responsible for overseeing the entire server and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
- Project Partners will review shared documentation and offer relevant insights and support for participants’ teams.
Dynamics and Team Formation
🤼 At the start of the event, participants will be grouped based on their chosen or presented ideas. Each team, composed between 3-5 members, will be assigned, based on their skillsets, with specific roles that range from developers, to designers and project managers. Together, the teams will work towards a consistent and well structured prototype solution for challenges encountered in the agri-food and logistics sectors.
Performance Rewards
🍀 Participants with the best and well-structured ideas will be awarded with either a Google Play Gift Card or App Store Gift Card, with prices amounting between 150€ and 500€. The deliberating process will take into account several criteria, being amongst them: Advantages and Competitiveness, Development Perspective, Innovation/Uniqueness, Presentation and Ratio of IRL to TRL.
In addition, all participants will be apt to receive a Digital Certificate of Participation, in recognition of their efforts.
