The Canary Islands Institute of Technology recently hosted its STARRISE training event, a three-day programme designed to enhance regional innovation. Following the strategy outlined within the project proposal and leveraging the expertise of IMP3ROVE in the consortium, the training was, once again, delivered by IMP³ROVE and its objective was to equip innovation the team from Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) with the skills required to engage in open innovation and agile methodologies. This on-site training, which took place from 23 to 25 April, engaged participants in exploring innovative strategies applicable to key sectors, including agri-food, sustainable mobility, and logistics, in accordance with the principles of Smart Specialisation Strategies, which seek to advance sustainable development through the application of technological innovations and the principles of a circular economy.

The training began with an in-depth session on open innovation, which included a variety of interactive activities and case studies illustrating successful approaches. On the second day, the participants engaged in a more detailed examination of the development of value propositions, the selection of partners, and the methods for measuring the impact of innovation initiatives. The final day focused on the practical applications of the Design Sprint technique and introduced participants to the principles of Scrum methodology for agile project management.

From 9 to 11 April, it was the turn of INOVA+ to host the IMP³ROVE three-day on-site training session. The training was designed to enhance knowledge and skills in the innovation field by focusing on innovation management and project management. The sessions included interactive exercises on innovation strategies as well as Agile methodologies for innovative project management innovation. This training will allow for INOVA+’s to improve its approach towards companies from both the agri-food and logistics sector, fostering innovation and competitiveness within the Portuguese business landscape.

These on-site trainings enabled participants to develop valuable skills and insights that will enable them to drive innovation within their organisations and contribute to regional economic growth in the agri-food and logistics sectors.
